Our Dudes and Donuts event was a big hit once again! Students and their dudes enjoyed treats, time together, and a fun stop at the photobooth. Thank you to our PTA for their support in making this special event happen each year.
Our kindergarteners counted, learned, and laughed their way through the 100th day of school—celebrating 100 days of growing smarter and stronger! They also marched the halls for a small parade to celebrate.
Our annual science fair was a success, highlighting students’ curiosity and innovation. The top 5th grade projects will move on to compete at the SUU Science Fair in March. Great job Polar Bears!

Science Fair is tomorrow! Science Fair grades 3-5 ONLY. Please bring your project board to the gym between 8:30-8:55. Remember that only students and judges will be in the room. Parents are not allowed to attend (due to similar management of the formal SUU science fair). We will take photos of all the projects and will run that in the foyer this year. Next year we will try and coordinate it around a family night, but needed it to be done prior to SUU, so that 5th graders could advance,

Join us on January 29th at 5:30pm for our Polar Bear Paint Night! Sign up today for $6; only 60 spots are available. Purchase is for one student and one accompanying adult. Students and adults will work together to paint one canvas. Sign up here

Students in Mrs. Jenkin’s 1st grade class are excited to have Art with Ms. Petersen this quarter. Today they were drawing what they love to do in a fun "Get to Know You" activity.
Mrs. Overson’s 4th graders took a journey through time during an engaging presentation on the rocks of southern Utah and the surrounding areas. After learning about geology in class, Brent Merrell, a true 'Rock Hound,' showed the class over a hundred rocks that he has collected or purchased from the Western United States, but mainly the local southern Utah area. As a gift, Merrell gave students petrified dinosaur poop or a polished rock necklace, and a polished arrowhead. A huge thank you, Brent, for your willingness to share your time and talents with students in our community.
Mrs. Woolsey’s first graders were excited to learn all about bears and what they eat before hibernation through a memory matching game.

Subject: Important Update: School Boundaries and Request to Remain at Current School
Dear North Elementary Parent (currently enrolled but rebound to a new school for 2026/2027),
We are writing in response to your comment/question about keeping your students at their current school. First, we hope you understand that these proposed changes to school boundaries are being implemented to address growth and balance enrollment across the district. Every effort is being made to ensure that these changes create boundaries that will be sufficient for five or more years. We understand that changes to school boundaries can be significant for families, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we manage these transitions.
We recognize that some families may wish for their child to remain enrolled at their current school despite the boundary adjustments. A process is available for requesting to stay in your current school. If you wish to request that your child remain at their current school, you must complete the request form available at https://aptg.co/y5tnN2. The form outlines all necessary information and requirements. The form is also linked on the boundary proposal webpage at https://www.irondistrict.org/page/boundary-proposal
To be considered, you must fill out the request form by March 31st.
The district will then process these requests and inform parents of the outcome by mid-April. We commit to reviewing all submissions in a timely manner and will communicate the decision regarding your child’s enrollment status as soon as possible.
We understand you may still have questions, and we encourage you to review the frequently asked questions document on our website: https://www.irondistrict.org/page/boundary-faqs.
Thank you for your continued support. Paper copies will be available in the office as well.
Sincerely,
North Elementary Admin and District Staff

REMINDER: Volunteers must have their trainings complete before coming back to help with kids in the classrooms and before going on field trips. For more information, see below.
"Wonderful Iron County School District Volunteers,
We thank you for all the hours you dedicate to our students. You are an incredibly valuable part of our team and every minute you serve makes a difference in the lives of children and our entire community.
We are reaching out because Utah now requires volunteers who work with minors or who may have unsupervised access to minors in a school setting, to receive yearly training. The training will cover abuse, suicide prevention, student safety, FERPA, ethics, and reporting requirements, mandated by various state codes like Utah Code 80-8-202 and Admin Rules (R277-316, R455-16-3).
We are asking that all of our current volunteers complete this training before they return to volunteer in the classroom after the holiday break. The entire training shouldn't take you more than 30 minutes. Once the training is complete, volunteers will be marked as cleared to volunteer for schools.
The training can be accessed at https://k12.instructure.com/enroll/8KX34Y. You will be asked to enter your full legal name and email address. You will then need to click "Enroll" and then click "Enroll in Course." Once you're in the course, complete the training by reading and viewing the information and clicking "Next." The information is accessible via text, a video, or both. A short quiz and acknowledgment are at the end. Once you have a score on the quiz your training is complete.
***If you don't have access to a computer or device, you can complete the training at the District Office or at the school where you volunteer during regular hours. If you have any questions or problems accessing the training, please reach out to Braylie Tullis at 435-586-2804 or braylie.tullis@ironmail.org ***
Again, we thank you for all that you do and the incredible skills that you offer to Our district."
